Community Captured
Based in Wanaka, Cold Exposures aims to capture our mountains people.
We started out as two stoked Cardrona lifties capturing our crew. We took loads of photos of the lift crew to document the season as a department but ventured out more to get a picture of the people that make Cardrona, the ones behind the scenes ticking along whatever the weather. From Lifties riding to work surrounded by the pink hues of sunrise, to Patrol securing the safety of the mountain in a total whiteout. We aim to showcase the grit and togetherness that makes the mountain move all whilst capturing the stoked personalities and adventure lifestyle/community of the ski seasonaire.
Shooting primarily on 35mm film Cold Exposures aims to create content that is genuine. We take pride in making images that are unique and capture the essence of the ski community.
In Wanaka for the 2026 winter season cold exposures is keen to get amongst it !
We know these mountains inside and out as well as the community that keep them running and hope to work with brands & athletes that showcase Aotearoa’s snowsports community.
THE DUO BEHIND COLD EXPOSURES
Originally from Worcester, England , Harriet has a background in football journalism and women’s football photojournalism. She now plays an integral roll in operations at Cardrona keeping our Lifty’s smiling and in line whilst also capturing the unique personalities of the mountain.

“Shooting primarily on 35mm film, I aim to capture the unique culture that surrounds the mountains. Whether it’s on a point and shoot or an SLR, I aim for authenticity and spontaneity with my subjects. The more candid, the more accurate the representation of the community. Thus, allowing for outsiders to recognise the true beauty of what I get to experience on the daily.”
Growing up in the Canadian Rockies instilled in Bella a zest for adventure and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Both have shaped her photography, which focuses on adventure sports and landscapes. Bella now spends her winters in Wanaka, working on the lifts at Cardrona and ripping around Treble Cone on her days off.
